CARAMEL APPLE BREAD PUDDING

This indulgent recipe features brioche, a sweet European bread, but you can use challah or French bread. Just add more sugar.

INGREDIENTS - 8 servings
  • 6 Whole Eggs
  • 34 Cup Sugar
  • 14 Cup Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Cups Half & Half
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • 1 Loaf Brioche cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 5 Whole Apple peeled, cored and sliced
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter
PREPARATION
  • THIS RECIPE ALSO CALLS FOR: Brioche, French Bread or Challah
  • Several hours or the day before you want to serve the bread pudding, place brioche cubes in a 3 qt. baking dish.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, vanilla extract, milk, half-and-half, salt and 1/4 cup sugar. Pour over bread cubes and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate.
  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Melt butter in a large deep skillet over low heat. Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar over butter and add apple slices. Toss to coat. Then cook over medium-high heat undisturbed until apples soften and butter turns amber. Pour apples and caramel sauce over bread pudding. Bake 45 minutes.
